Porn Industry Fears Bush Victory on Tuesday.

While it may not a clear endorsement of John Kerry, elements of the porn industry are voicing their concern over the possibility of another four years with George Bush in the Oval Office. It has been become painfully clear to adult industry publisher Dave Manack that if George W. Bush is re-elected next Tuesday, it would not be good for the pornography industry across America. "It's not to say our industry loves John Kerry or anything like that," the publisher of E.D. Publications told the Chicago Sun-Times, "but George Bush, if he's re-elected, it would be very damaging to our industry." Adult Video News, the adult industry's trade magazine -- which has labeled Attorney General John Ashcroft as "the American Taliban" -- also has come out forcefully against President Bush. In an op-ed piece earlier this year, AVN told its readers "that President Bush is a fundamentalist Christian, arguably as radical in his beliefs as al Qaida is in theirs, and as such has a seriously unhealthy view of human sexuality."

Porn Spoof’s Blood Makes CCBill See Red.

All amateur Adult Netizen and filmmaker Joanna Angel wanted to do was make a Halloween porn spoof of Re-Animator. The problem was that using even stage blood for The Re-Penetrator, which stars Angel herself, bumped up against payment processor CCBill’s policies against processing for certain pages, films, or other materials featuring five certain criteria, blood being one. That’s why BurningAngel.com received the word from CCBill that they had until November 1 to remove The Re-Penetrator from the site’s offerings or lose CCBill as their payment processor.

New Worm Variant Spreads, Clogging E-Mail.

At least one new variant of a worm spread rapidly from Asia and Europe to U.S. computers Friday morning, filling up people's e-mail accounts, but otherwise causing little apparent damage. Alex Shipp, senior antivirus technologist at the e-mail filtering company MessageLabs Inc., said the variant of the so-called Bagle worm was "comparable in size to MyDoom," the virus that slowed Google and other Internet search sites in January. MessageLabs recently had received about 900,000 e-mails containing the virus. Ship estimates that MessageLabs receives about 1 percent of the e-mails containing a given virus or worm.

When Does Art Become Porn?

Art photographer Barbara Nitke got her day in court Wednesday. In contrast to the great hullabaloo surrounding Howard Stern and Michael Powell duking it out on the air, and Jon Stewart eating Tucker Carlson for lunch on television, Nitke vs Ashcroft was a very quiet, polite, civil affair. Noise level is in inverse proportion to the importance of the issue. Nitke v Ashcroft challenges the criminalization of free speech on the internet. Trial is in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of NY, case # 01 CIV 11476 (RMB).

Suffering the Pornographers.

Craig Gross and Mike Foster, two young pastors from California, were looking for direction when one day in 2001, Mr. Foster said, God came to him in the shower and said one word: "Pornography." Mr. Foster, 33, said he did not often get such visits, and so he treated it as a divine calling. Since it came with no further instructions, the two reasoned that it was up to them to figure out what to do next. And so it came to be that on a Sunday afternoon three years later, Mr. Gross, 28, and Mr. Foster were tooling around a mall parking lot here in a black Scion xB festooned with ads declaring, "XXXChurch.com: The No. 1 Christian Porn Site." An air freshener with an image of Jesus dangled above the dash.

China closes 1,600 Internet cafes to stamp out online sex and violence.

China has closed 1,600 Internet cafes and fined operators a total of 100 million yuan (US$12 million) for letting children play violent games and for other violations, the government said Saturday. The announcement came amid a campaign launched in March to reduce or eliminate sex and violence in Web sites, video games and other material that Communist leaders consider harmful to public morality. Investigators have inspected 1.8 million Internet cafes looking for unlicensed operations or those that let children play violent games meant for adults, the Ministry of Culture said.

Larry Flynt urges shoppers to try before they decry.

American porn magnate Larry Flynt yesterday asked the British public not to prejudge his sex stores without trying them first. The legendary publisher opened his first Hustler Hollywood branch in the UK in Birmingham's High Street. Crowds of shoppers waited patiently outside the self-styled "erotic emporium" which stands at a pedestrianised crossroads opposite that mainstay of British retailing Marks & Spencer. They seemed to enjoy the glamour of the occasion and clapped loudly as Mr Flynt, who arrived in a black limousine and uses a golden wheelchair, cut the ribbon.

Illegal sales of X-rated videos soar.

Adult bookshops in Sydney are illegally selling hardcore porn films over the counter even though it is an offence that carries a maximum fine of $11,000 or 12 months' jail. Upper house independent MP Peter Breen said the multimillion-dollar industry was allowed to flourish because NSW laws were out of date and rarely enforced. Mr Breen said his survey of porn outlets in George Street and Darlinghurst revealed that hundreds of X-rated titles were being sold, including films depicting sexual violence, under-age sex and sadism. "Every adult shop, every sex shop, every secondhand bookshop stocks this material and it is highly illegal," he said.

Google has invited Froogle merchants to beta test its ad automator tool, and rolled out new features for its shopping search site. Gmail accounts 'wide open to exploit' - report.

Google's high profile webmail service, Gmail, is vulnerable to a security exploit that might allow hackers full access to a user's email account simply by knowing the user name, according to reports. The security flaw allows full access to users' accounts, with no need of a password, Israeli news site Nana says . Using a hex-encoded XSS link, the victim's cookie file can be stolen by a hacker, who can later use it to identify himself to Gmail as the original owner of an email account, regardless of whether or not the password is subsequently changed. Following up a tip from an Israeli hacker, journos from the site confirmed the attack and verified the exploit with local security firm Aladdin Knowledge Systems.

Porn Is Going Mobile.

Bloggers and journalists have been all over a Yankee Group study released Monday that predicts a $1 billion global market for mobile porn by 2008. On the off chance you missed the flurry, let me clarify. Mobile porn is not a big bus that travels to underserved rural areas a la mobile libraries or hearing test centers. Rather, it's the next logical step for adult content delivery. Or is it? On one hand, mobile phones are an ideal content receiver. We carry them with us everywhere we go, and we can send and receive data packets from just about anywhere, too. Despite dead zones -- which for some reason seem to include my desk and my bed no matter what city I'm in -- phone service is ubiquitous compared with wireless internet.

Apparently Mainstream Can’t Say Cunt, Even When They Don’t.

In an age where “damn” and “shit” have all but lost their vulgarity status, the word “cunt” still remains one of those words not used in polite society. In fact, the word is considered so taboo that editors at the Chicago Tribune reportedly went to great lengths to stop publication of a feature story examining the usage of the word, interchangeably used as slang for vagina or a woman. The article, written by a freelancer, quoted academics, cultural icons, and everyday women about the use of the word – though the word “cunt” was never actually used in the article.

Fetish Photographer’s Suit Against Ashcroft Begins In Court.

A New York-based fetish photographer’s lawsuit against U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft went to trial October 27, in a case some observers believe will prove a profound challenge to any and all attempts to criminalize free speech on the Internet. Barbara Nitke is challenging the Communications Decency Act as a co-defendant with the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. The trial’s first day of testimony included witnesses such as Columbia University philosophy professor Arthur Danto and sex educator Tristan Taormino, both of whom spoke of the nature of art, porn, and the distinctions between the two.

Google might like to be thought of as a 'black hole of Internet search engines,' consuming all the information that falls within their gravitational reach. But there really are holes in Google, Yahoo! and all other search engines that have nothing to do with the forces of nature. These holes have serious implications for the quality of search engine results, and therefore require the attention of your optimization efforts.

German porn site fined for inadequate controls.

Germany's campaign against pornographic websites that can be seen by children and teenagers has won a boost with a court ruling that requires tougher entrance checks for surfers. The owner of one website was fined 1,600 euros (RM7,840) in a decision confirmed last month by Berlin appeal judges. Their ruling, which was not disclosed at the time, was made public by a court spokesman Monday. Surfers had only been asked to give their identity card number to gain access to the site. Rejecting an appeal against conviction, the court said children could easily obtain the numbers of adults to use. A policeman had told how he viewed the site using the ID number of a celebrity whose German citizenship papers had been shown in a glossy magazine.

10 Ways To Indirectly Get To The Top Of Search.

There are millions of web sites trying to get listed in the top 20 spots of the major search engines. That amounts to a lot of competition! I say if you can't get listed at the top, indirectly get to the top. How do you do this? Look up the top 20 web sites on the major search engines under the keywords and phrases people would find your web site. The key would be to then advertise on those web sites. The most expensive way would be to buy ad space on those web sites. If you don't want to spend any money, you could use the ten strategies below. These strategies may not apply to every web site.

Blue Square has been told that if it doesn't hand over €7,000 it will be the victim of a distasteful email smear campaign. Child pornography is the latest weapon being wielded by web-based extortionists who are targetting online betting firms with denial of service blackmail threats. Blackmailers warned UK-based online bookmaker Blue Square on Tuesday that they would send out emails in Blue Square's name containing child pornography unless the company paid a demand for €7,000.

Web Searches for Sex Declining.

Internet users are doing far fewer searches for sex and pornography and more for e-commerce and business than they were seven years ago, University of Pittsburgh and Penn State researchers say in a new book. "Twenty percent of all searching was sex-related back in 1997, now it's about 5 percent," said Amanda Spink, the University of Pittsburgh professor who co-authored "Web Search: Public Searching of the Web" with Penn State professor Bernard J. Jansen. "It's a little bit more in Europe, 8-10 percent, but in comparison to everything else, it's a very small percent," Spink said. "People are using (the Web) more as an everyday tool rather than as just an entertainment medium." Experts aren't surprised by the results.

Lawyer: Child Porn, Sex Statutes Conflict.

The lawyer for a man convicted for videotaping consensual sex with his 17-year-old girlfriend argues that the former high school teacher should not have been prosecuted under a child pornography law. Senters was put on probation and required to register as a sex offender. In briefs filed with the Nebraska Supreme Court seeking to overturn the conviction, Senters' lawyer James Martin Davis noted that state law allows people age 16 or older to have consensual sex.

The Secret Life of a Female Porn Addict.

"It [an addiction to pornography] was an excitement that captured me like nothing else could capture me. When I made love to my husband for the first time, it was that kind of excitement. Joean was a happily married 40-year-old mother when she discovered a new passion -- pornography. Her cable service had just been upgraded. As Joean flipped through the new channels, she found something that both shocked and excited her."That was like opening up a door to hell. DMOZ: Rotten To The Core.

I knew things were bad at DMOZ. But I guess I didn't realize how bad, until I started eavesdropping on a few forums, and reading the avalanche of e-mails I received on the subject. When it takes up to two years to get a web site listed, there's a serious problem. When perfectly qualified web sites are rejected for no other reason than the fact the editor considers them serious competition to his or her own site, there's a serious problem. When you e-mail DMOZ about the status of your web site and don't even receive a courtesy response to your questions, there's a serious problem. When you have egotistical DMOZ editors fighting each other to have their own web sites listed, there's a serious problem. And quite frankly, I don't see how the mess DMOZ has created can be fixed. With an apparently endless backlog of web sites waiting to be approved, how can they possibly catch up. The answer is, they can't.
